Driving safely during the night

Logistics is a 24 hour business, with HGV and LGV drivers often working night shifts to tight deadlines. It’s really important that drivers are extra diligent when it comes to driving at night, even if it becomes the norm – here’s our top tips.

Take refreshments. We recommend water and healthy snacks, and advise caution when reaching for the coffee. Caffeine may give you an instant energy kick but could leave you feeling more drained in the long run.

Keep your vehicle comfortable. Make sure all windows are cleaned inside and out to avoid dazzle; if you are struggling against the dazzle of oncoming headlights, try turning on your interior light to reduce the impact. Make sure your cab is well ventilated – plenty of oxygen will keep you feeling refreshed and alert!

Take plenty of breaks! Always take your break in full. Try to get out of your vehicle if you can safely to stretch out during your break. If you feel too tired to keep on driving, stop immediately.

Avoid these top forklift operation mistakes!

Forklift operation mistakes can be very costly. Regular training and maintenance can go a long way to preventing mistakes when operating your forklift, but also having a good understanding of the sort of mistakes that can be made and their consequences is important too – here’s our list of mistakes to watch out for.

The load – Loads that are too heavy or unsecured can be a real danger to both those operating the forklift and pedestrians. Make sure you know exactly how much weight your forklift can take and always secure the load properly.

Get inspecting! Missing inspections and maintenance on your forklift can be very costly, leading to broken vehicles way before their time. Make sure forklifts are regularly inspected and train teams to make sure they check their vehicles regularly.

Lack of care. It’s vital that forklift operators use their equipment properly – Speeding can be hugely dangerous for pedestrians, as well as a lack of attention to surroundings. Forklift operators must be diligent at all times, paying attention to signage and safe routes.

Van Driver

We are currently recruiting dedicated and experienced Van Drivers for our prestigious client based in Milton Keynes. This temporary, on-going role involves making an average of 5 drops per day, with up to 15 drops for more local deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:
• Multi-Drop Deliveries: Perform multi-drop deliveries with professionalism and efficiency.
• Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip inspections and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the delivery van.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent service to our clients’ customers, ensuring all deliveries are made accurately and on time.
• Documentation: Complete delivery paperwork accurately and maintain records as required.
Requirements:
• Must be over 25 years old (for insurance purposes).
• Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Proven experience in multi-drop delivery driving.
• Flexibility to start work as early as 8am, depending on daily schedules.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Bendi/Flexi FLT Driver

We are currently looking for an experienced Flexi/Bendi forklift driver to join a well-established business based in Bletchley. The ideal candidate will be available immediately and will be able to commit to full time hours.

Key details:

· Day shift available (Monday to Friday)

· Pay: £12.50 per hour

· Free on-site parking

· Temp to permanent for the right candidate

· MUST have a valid, in-date Flexi/Bendi licence

Duties:

· This is a busy forklift position however you will be required to carry our manual work also.

· Warehouse duties are involved.

Avoid these common interviewing mistakes!

It’s inevitable that job seekers will have to attend interviews to secure a new role these days. Whilst interviews come in all shapes and sizes, make sure you avoid these common mistakes.

Make sure you prepare. It doesn’t make much to research the job and the organisation you’re interviewing with. If you can’t answer any questions about the job or the company in the interview, it’ll look like you’re not interested.

Are you on time? Turning up late to an interview, even if it is out of your control, won’t start things well for you. Plan your journey well and leave plenty of time to get there, even if delays occur. If you do find yourself running later, call the organisation to let them know when you’ll arrive. And if your interview is online, log on join the call at the start time (not early!), and consider testing your tech beforehand.

How much information? It’s vital that you’re careful about how much information you give. You should avoid being critical of a previous or current employer in an interview setting, and honestly, the interviewer isn’t going to want to hear your full life story! Answer the questions given clearly and to the point.
